History
Our School
S.N. Réalt na Mara is a Catholic, co-educational primary school under the patronage of Bishop
Kevin Doran, Catholic
Bishop of Elpin. While our school has a Catholic ethos, we welcome pupils
of other faiths and those wiho do not
have any particular religious beliefs and we encourage
genuine
respect and tolerance of all.
"Réalt na Mara" is the Irish for "Star of the sea".
Our school is located in the beautiful seaside village of Rosses Point, Co. Sligo on the north
west coast of Ireland.
There are currently 103 pupils enrolled and there is a
Teaching Staff
of six permanent teachers .
In S.N. Réalt na Mara we offer a wide and varied
curriculum
. As well as implementing
the Revised Primary School
Curriculum (Department of Education and Skills, 1999) we were also a pilot school for
the Department of Education

charitable causes. During Lent, the
pupils fundraise for Bóthar and the aim is to send a female
dairy goat to a poor
family in Africa. We also support Trócaire projects in the developing world.
