Our School
S.N. Réalt na Mara is a Catholic, co-educational primary school under the patronage of Bishop
Kevin Doran, CatholicBishop of Elpin. While our school has a Catholic ethos, we welcome pupils
of other faiths and those wiho do not have any particular religious beliefs and we encourage
genuine respect and tolerance of all.

"Réalt na Mara" is the Irish for "Star of the sea".

Our school is located in the beautiful seaside village of Rosses Point, Co. Sligo on the north
west coast of Ireland.
There are currently 103 pupils enrolled and there is a Teaching Staff of six permanent teachers .

In S.N. Réalt na Mara we offer a wide and varied curriculum. As well as implementing
the Revised Primary School
Curriculum (Department of Education and Skills, 1999) we were also a pilot school for
the Department of Education
and Science's Modern Languages in Primary Schools Initiative (MLPSI). Our school has
also been involved in many initiatives, projects and sporting events over the years,
such as the Green Schools, Discover Primary Science and Maths Project, CraftEd
Arts project, Primary School Debating, Quizzes, Learn Storm/Khan Academy On-line
Maths Challenge, Book Week, Maths Week Ireland, NUI Galway's Under the Microscope
Programme, K'nex Challenge, Dissolving Boundaries, Cumann na mBunscol, FAI Primary Schools
soccer and primary school basketball. Our school also supports many
charitable causes. During Lent, the pupils fundraise for Bóthar and the aim is to send a female
dairy goat to a poor family in Africa. We also support Trócaire projects in the developing world.
