Aistear in S.N. Réalt na Mara

Aistear is the curriculum framework for children from birth to six years in Ireland. It  provides for enjoyable and
challenging learning experiences, so that all children can grow and develop as competent and confident learners
within relationships with others.

Aistear describes the types of learning (dispositions, values and attitudes, skills, knowledge, and understanding)
that are important for children in their early years. During early childhood it is important that children have
opportunities to lead learning through self-initiated and self-directed learning and to be involved in decisions about
what they do. At other times, the teacher leads through planned and guided activities and increases or lessens the
amount and type of support as children grow in confidence and competence.

Clicking on the links below will open a PowerPoint of the particular Aistear themes that our Junior and Senior Infant
pupils have been working on during Term 1 of the 2019/2020 academic year.
